We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Nurse ( CNM1 ) to join our team in Cork.
The Lead Nurse is central in leading, motivating, and managing the team of nurses to deliver high-quality, patient-focused care. Acting as an expert practitioner, the Lead Nurse ensures evidence-based clinical nursing is provided within a safe and efficient environment, while supporting continuous service improvement and staff development and meeting the company’s clinical, strategic and business goals..
Leadership & Clinical Management:
Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Support and participate service development initiatives in partnership with the Clinic Manager/Nurse Services Manager
Adjust staffing resources dynamically to ensure continuity of care.
Roster, assign nurses to different clinics and duties and participate in the overall delivery of care in the Express Care Service, and in other Clinics provided.
Provide assistance to the Nurse Services Manager in the management of all clinical services in the Cork Clinic.
Ensure nurses practice within the scope of NMBI, and all professional guidelines.
Patient Care & Safety:
Maintain an appropriate, competent and safe clinical environment, ensuring hygiene standards and infection prevention and control protocols / standard precautions are maintained.
Support multidisciplinary collaboration, coordinating with medical, radiography, and allied healthcare professionals.
Ensure timely scheduling of procedures, working closely with medical and radiography staff.
Promote patient-centered care, ensuring effective communication and support for patients and their families.
Deal with patient concerns, issues and queries, and respond to patients, partners and contractors on all aspects of the running of the ExpressCare service.
Operational & Strategic Responsibilities:
Work closely on all matters of the clinic with the Nurse Services Manager
Directly manage nursing staff, including rostering and performance management.
Coordinate mandatory training and maintain up-to-date records.
Oversee clinical audits and manage incident reporting to maintain high patient care standards.
Identify areas for service improvement and initiate quality-enhancing initiatives preparing the unit for JCI accreditation and maintaining the IPSG6 principles in all aspects of the clinics operation.
Job requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent
Active Registration in the General Division of NMBI
Minimum 5 years post-registration experience in acute general hospital settings, with at least 2 years in Emergency Nursing.
Managerial experience in a healthcare setting
Experience in clinical teaching or mentoring student nurses.
Ability to analyse, report, and drive improvements in nursing practice.
Strong strategic planning and relationship-building skills across complex healthcare environments.
